So as promised CHAPPS will be documenting a blog to keep you updated on what our team of physios, horses and riders/drivers have been up to, as well as providing the latest tips and tricks on how best to help your horse or dog and yourself.
The physios Lottie and Jess are Chartered Human and Veterinary Physiotherapists and Lottie is a Pilates instructor.
We are lucky to sponsor a team of international driving ponies owned by Helen and Dave Pritchard and driven by Alice Pritchard and Katie Cooper. We work very closely with the team to optimise the ponies performance and keep them at the top of their game. Each pony is competing to a high level in their discipline, so an individualised treatment plan is key.
We also sponsor a team of show jumpers owned by the Vanstone family and ridden by Kyra Vanstone, ranging from 5 year olds to well established horses working their way up the ranks. Kyra's emphasis is on developing and bringing on her horses at a rate that is best from them, before she is happy to move them up to international standard. Kyra's horses receive regular physiotherapy and she utilises a graded exercise programme of ground work and ridden exercises to optimise the benefits in between sessions.

Katie and Braeglens Splendour (stable name Tilly) won the Indoor Horse Driving Trials at Merrist Wood Arena, taking her to the top of the leader board. Katie said that Tilly has had a fantastic start to the indoor season as she has been a superstar and won every competition so far. Their aim is to stay at the top of the leader board throughout the season and qualify for the Indoor National Championships in Keysoe, Bedfordshire on the 7th-9th April. CHAPPS will continue to work closely with the pair to help them achieve their goal. Well done Katie and Tilly!

Kyra has spent the last 3 days up at Aintree with 3 of her horses in preparation for their trip to Belgium this week. Kyra said they all jumped great, feeling supple and really letting go behind. Jimbob jumped clear round the 1.30m on all three days and was placed in the Grade B and C Championship Qualifier. Airo 55 did a fantastic job and stepped up to 1.20m for the first time, just having an unlucky pole. Sampras (stable name Bob) managed really well as it was his first stay over show and popped round the Newcomers, showing lots of potential. The horses will receive physiotherapy before leaving for Belgium and we look forward to hearing how they get on. Keep up the good work Kyra!
