Small Animal FAQ
How long will a small animal physio session take?
The initial physio consultation will take 60 minutes. This session involves the discussing the animals medical conditions and history, we will then undertake the primary assessment and an introduction to the treatments. Follow up sessions are generally 45 minutes as we already have any understanding of the animal and their requirements. Follow up session will be primarily treatment and planning the next step in your animals treatment journey.
How can I prepare for the session
We ask that all animals are clean and dry in preparation for the session.
If we are attending your animal at home we require a calm quiet area away from distractions. If you have other animals that may be distracting during the session we ask that they are removed from the area

Do you need veterinary consent for my cat or dog to have physiotherapy?
By law we do require veterinary consent to treat your pet.
Once you have completed our registration form we will contact the veterinary practice your pet is registered at to gain the vets consent and request the clinical history.
How many sessions will my pet need?
Each session is tailored to the individual animal. As a result the number of sessions required is dependent on the findings and the reason they are receiving physio. Physio does not stop when you leave the appointment and we will provide exercises and a treatment plan for you to continue at home before the next session.
Can you treat my pet if they are nervous or aggressive.
We understand that when animals are in a situation they are not used to they may become more nervous or anxious than usual. We will always work slowly at the animals pace to minimise undue stress and adapt treatment where necessary. Most animals respond very well to this.
If your animal has shown aggressive tendencies in the past we would ask that you notify us prior to the session so we can complete an accurate risk assessment.
My dog has been known to bite, do I need to bring a muzzle?
If a dog has bitten in the past we do ask that you bring a muzzle for your dog to wear. If you do not have one please let us know ahead of the apointment so we can organise this.
